Seasonal Greetings Card

Stream of consciousness Seasonal Greetings Card Near enough to The Bay of Fires to warm your heart and inspire jealousy simultaneously nice.

To whoever is freezing in Winter far away I dedicate.
The evening before driving to Fingal, Emnicus the boat in port and the following morning the wheat growing wild on the hill blew softly with full ears arrayed and lovely and the snails mating, shooting hypodermic darts of anaesthetic drugs as supposed is their way in Spring lingering and the calendar lying  promise of Summer.  On the road out of town, short and winding stretch, branches fallen for storm and accompanying maintenance trucks obstruct slightly in the road slow traffic. Passing cement mixer death to environment someones new house more paving covered earth Earth the heathen beauty obscured covered wrapped concealed killed in a scarf swathed tightly constricted covered eventual death fungus growing underneath. I hate tarmac, cement and all obliterating tiny white granules of stone scattered on black and grey sandy rock bracken and orchids long tendrils of leaves olive green and their seed pods dried scattered. St Marys Pass new P's for sensitive people and tourists replace those usually stolen by drunks, tourists and people.      Grey Mare's Path, inexplicably 2 dead wallabies and 2 dead rabbits in car park. The eye of the wallaby still moist and brown.  One marsupial smaller, one rabbit disemboweled. Waterfall falling, stream empty, traffic streaming past on nearby road, trees charred, pennants strung across main street. I take the road to Cornwall. Antique and collectors shop, everything dusted, sequitairs in cement, Singers in the garden, an old Avon jug and sheet music circa when just? I do not know what that object is. I am devoid of the wish to purchase. Having disturbed the day and made doorbell ring I leave no money wanting nothing from this place leave empty handed feel hungry.  Drive on, sealed road ends further road impassable in this vehicle must turn back damn just getting interesting.  Delapidated houses with signs of occupation some extremely cared for intensely cultivated gardens wood rots, paint peels, forest snuggly encases hills. Lights glowing through gloom at Coal Office Prefabrication Plant on the drive back from Fingal. Had lunch in gravel car park of For Sale municipal building circa pre war era cement stairs leading up glass window slivered architectural sense of placement if no one buys this building will it live?          I must watch out for snakes if i walk in long grass.  Marsupial road deaths, cows and sheep in paddocks, flowers tumbling over fences, a thoughtful row of eucalyptus, memorials at accident scenes, gently blowing grasses, a pointy hill,  catapillar segmented articulated trucks driving away, raindrops, sheer drops, cliff face, Caltex star replaced with United groceries already passed. In the sky far from this a lunar eclipse aligns with a Solstice since never in 400 years thence.

Be safe and ever joyous in the ice and on the beach.
          Seasonal Greetings.

Jemima Khan tries to aid Julian Assange

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8187586/Julian-Assange-Jemima-Khan-comes-to-aid-of-Wikileaks-founder-in-Swedish-extradition-fight.html
Motivated by belief in the human right to freedom of information and the right to be told the truth, Jemima Khan offered to pay 20,000 pounds surety to free Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who is facing extradition to Sweden on rape charges which are widely assumed to be bogus and were previously dismissed by the prosecutor but then reinstated at the intervention of a politician.   This was refused and Julian Assange was not released.

Sea Urchin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_urchin

The sea urchin, as stated on the above link, is related to the crinoids, which are the subject of some previous posts on this site, along with images of the crinoids.                It has been speculated that the entire body of the sea urchin is one big eye.
It has also been theorized that the crinoids evolved an ability to up their moorings and walk along the sea floor, in order to avoid being nibbled by sea urchins.   Broken off bits of crinoid stem found scattered around are evidence of sea urchin snacking.
Sea urchins are sometimes considered a pest but are alright where they are a natural part of the ecosystem if kept under control by other predators, such as otters, which like to eat them.

seaweed information

http://www.mdidea.com/products/proper/proper082research.html

The above website link details research data on seaweed's nutrient value for medicine and food.

The idea that people could be living close to the cures for their maladies and nutrient deficiencies and be in ignorance of this is unsettling.   Yet if the water is contaminated and people consume the harvest of the sea, the effect on health could be negative.           Every human activity on or near the ocean has a consequence for the bio resource.

house of tradition

Prince William and Kate are to be wed in 2011.   As they have lived together for a number of years before taking this step, they are a good example to others not to hurry into life changing commitments and not to reproduce in the first few years of a relationship.
This is very modern and appropriate of them.  People feel uncomfortable with some of the aspects of royalty that seem archaic. The system seems so controlling and unhealthy. Was it their idea to wed or are they being pushed into it?  Are royals regarded as baby machines and their bodies tools of a fertility mad state that seeks to manipulate the people?
What if the couple change their mind now that plans are underway?    Is it plausible that they could cancel even at the altar when the questions are asked? Does royalty forgo autonomy?   Princess Diana was pathologized when she wanted to get out of her marriage.    Her ability to draw people into her world and empathize, inspired people to ask questions.     Is this institution safe for the people in it?   Is it a healthy mirror for society to look at itself in?          Are we all like these people? Are most females viewed by the state as just walking bags of reproductive organs to be used for making the future soldiers and workers to serve the state?
In 2010 it is very good to see that at least this is one couple who have established a sustainable life with a house of their own before thinking of babies.           If they choose to wed and not to have babies everyone should be accepting of this and what a wonderful example to the world that would be. Otherwise, one child would be a good limit.

cement superstructure

http://www.kinokultura.com/specials/10/laaniste-torim.shtml

cement- is it an overused material?   i asked myself this question because a sculpture in progress(a cement staircase), was being constructed at one of my favorite beaches.    It is not a good look for the beach or any beach, as they are beautiful only to the degree they can be kept natural.     They had already harmed the appearance of this beach by tarmac surfacing and landscaping the parking area, which was lovely before with interesting freestanding stones delineating space and just needed a bit of seamless resurfacing of the loose grit surface.
These new glaring hues and constructivist spaces re sculpt Tasmania's landscape  in the design direction of an English seaside slum park styled to get money off the proletariat in exchange for cheap paramilitary style holidays ie Butlands, Pontins and are also reminiscent of supermarket and kidi equipment design styles with their lunatic legoland grabrail design aura and obliteration of all visible tree limbs.

safe renovation

Renovations can be pretty unsafe for beautiful furniture, fixtures, fittings and buildings when intrinsic qualities are sometimes destroyed to follow popular style trends. For example: the late 20th century mindless acid stripping and staining of wooden furniture and fittings which destroyed many nice but unfashionable original french varnished surfaces.
Human health and safety is also at risk from renovation, yet should be of paramount consideration.       Clearly, renovators should be very sure that they are not just following a trend when renovating as costs can be way too high both to heritage and human health.

Inside the beautiful house

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tudor_Revival_architecture

Recently, I viewed -Murder On The Links- a Poirot DVD from The Agatha Christy Collection. Some exquisite interiors, exteriors and gardens featured throughout the film set in the 20's'30's.

Whilst these were not Tudor Revival, but some other style present on the landscape of the 1920's/30's, The Arts and Crafts Movement influenced many buildings of the era.

Tudor Revival architecture came into media prominence this week when Joanne Brown, owner of a 3million pound Tudor style cottage backing onto Great Windsor Park, went missing, suspected murdered, precipitating a crime investigation and search for her body.   Her husband who her friends claim, wanted the house, was arrested.
She had been running part of the cottage as a B&B to pay legal costs in the couple's bitter ongoing divorce proceedings.  She owned the cottage prior to her marriage to Mr Brown, an airline pilot.
Whatever the facts of the case, in fiction and in life, people definitely murder for houses, both beautiful and plain.      Is there something about the Tudor style that inspires lust in the male?        Perhaps they see stays and corsets in the architectural wooden exterior binding and internal support beams, the lattice leadlights and tied down thatching.   Yet these were creations of structural necessity in the 1500's when the style was conceived.    Perhaps the analytical male mind just likes to be able to see how a building is constructed by sussing out the outside.     Industrial style buildings with exposed workings, sometimes labelled brutal, perhaps are a post modernist reflection of an identifiably male labelled design desire ascended from Tudor origin.

How many people see an enchantingly beautiful house and think- I've got to have that house-  It seems humans are a predatory animal and this is never more obvious than in the quest for housing.

They flew so far to die

http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/11/18/110481_tasmania-news.html
The migratory birds are arriving and dying again.        I have just returned from a walk on a beach and whilst observing the desertification and eroding dune habitat created by the sand mining of the other year, which stole massive quantities of sand, trucking it away in a disruption to the nature reserve ecosystem that went on for months and months, I saw over 20 dead birds in clusters and all the way along the beach from the headland cliff rock pool area to the point.   Some partially buried, so others are probably there but obscured by drifting sand.           Past mass bird deaths are attributed to exhaustion and starvation.     Has human activity got any influence on this phenomena?

Australians buying overseas

The current value of the Australian dollar  makes Australian real estate  overpriced and overdue for correction.         Time for Australians to buy into the UK market. There are plenty of bargains especially in high demand better parts of residential London.          Anyone keeping up with prices in both countries can observe this.                For example, UK media reports stated that Tony and Cherie Blair recently bought one of their offspring a substantial London house in a good area for one and a half million pounds.     While a recent Australian guide listed a pretty crumby house several streets back from the beach in a coastal NSW suburb at 3 million AUD.        Given that London residential is some of the most sought after, in demand real estate on the planet whilst Australia is quite far away from the action, the point is clear.                  Australian real estate is rather overpriced. Dont buy it right now unless you absolutely must.                          Another factor is Australian interest rates. These should rise soon if the Australian economy is to maintain buoyancy long term. So Australian house prices would then drop.
 * follow this advise at your own risk. It is only unqualified opinion.

So you wish to live in London?

The fantastic London home of well loved celebrities Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson is now, it seems, actually for sale, as they are relocating (not to Tasmania unfortunately as they would have been incredibly welcome and have adored it,)  to Chelsea near his gallery.                  So, the price is only 37 million stirling and if I had that I would snap it up as it compares very favourably with others similar.       Unfortunately I cant even scrape up the million I need to establish my Art Gallery project in Tasmania though, so I wont be buying the lovely Saatchi home - dam!  Nonetheless, whoever does buy it will be well pleased I'm sure and if you heard of it from my website feel free to shop in my art gallery for paintings for your interior decorating scheme.        http://konstsian.blogspot.com/

scaffolding celebrity saga sympathy

Art world celebrity impresario and wonderful human being, Charles Saatchi has reportedly been disrupted in his work at the beautiful home in London he and Nigella Lawson domestic goddess dwell in and snatches of the lovely interior of which are seen in Nigella Express and other great cooking lifestyle DVDs.           Charles's life has been disrupted by building work at an adjoining house and scaffolding obstructing his windows.             Sounds like hell, and from what people are saying on websites, others share the distress of noisy, dusty, disruptive building work at all hours in residential London.
Building work really should be arranged when those affected are out of town obviously.               It goes without saying that structural damage caused by building such as excavating, which has caused a London road collapse incident, should be anticipated and prevented from happening.
Artists in the UK are very fortunate they've got Charles Saatchi to buy their work.                    If Charles and Nigella ever wish to buy a nice place or abstract paintings -http://konstsian.blogspot.com/ -
in Tasmania they should contact me.     Things can be expensive in Tasmania but very worth it and less scaffolding!           Disputes of all kinds are probably likely to decrease as the ratio of trees to humans increases which could also be a possible factor in London disputes over building noise and obstructions such as scaffolding getting in people's faces all over the city to the detriment of cultural life and daily existence.
Such situations really are not fair and should not be allowed to develop.
More trees less scaffolding is an answer.

multipedes

Multiipedes love Tasmania's north east coast which is not a problem as they are part of the ecosystem and feed on silverfish and slaters. So they keep pests under biological control.            Centipedes and millipedes, are however, not nice to make personal contact with, so I usually pick them up with a bit of torn off newspaper, squash them,(not easy as they curl into a defensive spiral and are quite brittle), and throw in the bin.
Trying to eradicate them from the human domain is pointless as they will return anyway. They love it if you are sited down from a watercourse and there is mulch around the dwelling.                        Apparently they are most active in Autumn and hibernate in nests at other times.    I have never known them to be completely out of sight except during short periods of cold weather during Winter, but there are usually at least a few sighted every week or day during warmer and or wetter weather.                    Today, for example, I have already disposed of 2.     They range from very tiny to 3 or 4 cm as they can be up to 5 years old.            I feel comfortable about killing multipedes as I believe they have no developed nervous system enough to feel pain and also as I do not use chemicals or pesticides.       Also, plenty remain to continue their ecosystem function controlling insects, as I already mentioned.                              My multipedes could be either Tasmanian natives or Portuguese introduced, so are likely harmless to humans.           If they were South American(which they are not), they might be a type that squirt poison and are harmful to humans.
Of course, it is everyone's nightmare that they would crawl up your nose while you are sleeping and they can rear up to climb off the ground, so keep bed linen above ground level by longer than maximum multipede length.

350 million year old Crinoids advance molecular science

A new understanding of crinoid fossil pigment molecules could aid understanding of evolution and more.   Ohio State University geologists have been making fascinating discoveries analysing crinoid fossils in the lab.

Significant fashion

Catherine Walker, haute couture designer of many of the late Princess Diana's most elegant fashions, has died recently.
http://www.catherinewalker.com/index.html
In her designs she liked to emphasise an elongated torso and created 1000's of outfits for the late Princess who with her classical, statuesque beauty, must have been a dream client .
Catherine Walker's atelier in London was set up along french lines and she employed very talented people as tailors and embroiderers/decorative artists and designers to continue her studio.

Tourism Australia

If you are a potential tourist to Australia and are in the upper percentile spending bracket are you more likely to visit Australia because a celebrity is paid millions to promote Australia to tourists or because you visited one of my websites?
If the later, why not suggest to the Australian tourist authority that they sponsor my websites?  I would really appreciate your endorsement even if you dont feel like generously sponsoring my site yourself or are not an art buyer/investor of my Australian art.                 I really need international art investment for my worthwhile projects and there are nice places to stay and luxuries here to enjoy as well.    Be assured, you always have a contact in Australia and no matter who you are or where from, you will always be most welcome to invest in my projects in Australia and global.

Remaining Crinoids

Crinoids, as featured in previous posts are interesting animals related to starfish and found washed in with the tide on the beach. Alive they appear quite different than dead.  There are many different crinoids. The crinoids in these images have water bearing vessels which are white when alive and look quite dramatic against their blood red head. When dead the vessels are not clearly visible and the animal dehydrates in appearance and becomes more like the fossil forms discovered in deserts and other locations sometimes far from existent oceans but which once were seas.     Whilst in past golden eras of crinoids, they were hugely proliferate, crinoids are now not so common, but there are still quite a few kinds worldwide.    I have not discovered what kind of crinoids are in my images on this site.  Most of the crinoid information I find on the web relates to American,  Atlantic and Indian Ocean  crinoids.
The crinoids in these images could have started off in Indonesia or Pacific Islands. I am not to know their origin.    I welcome any accurate identification.mailto:identification.zet.get888@ymail.com  or telephone and leave a message please.

Tristan and Isolde trees

Cataract Gorge park.
The trees in this image from my Cataract Gorge collection happen to be touching each other. In ancient Celtic legends such as Tristan and Isolde, the star crossed lovers are buried on opposite sides of a river to keep them apart even in death, but two trees sprout on the grave sites and grow interlocking branches across the river despite.

Australian politicians-Do they need arts consultants?

Yes you need an arts consultant!    In public life, politics, the corporate world, even as a private person_ if income permits_ you really do need an arts consultant.
Many politicians who did not get as many votes as they wished, would have experienced improved results if only they had employed an arts consultant.  And political lobbyists also need to employ arts consultants.    And in the private sector an arts consultant is also an essential life enhancing, beneficial, indispensable asset.                               Not just an adjunct to the advertising and marketing budget, an arts consultant is the human element in the equation when you strive for achievement.
Why not employ an arts consultant today and see the improvement in future percentages and appreciation of those far and close?
